Dr. Maynard graduated Cum Laude from Palmer Chiropractic College in 1972 and has been in practice in Lancaster, Ohio since 1974. Past and present affiliations include the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners, the National Association of Disability Evaluation Professionals, the National Board of Forensic Chiropractic Examiners, the American Chiropractic Association and the Ohio State Chiropractic Association. Dr. Maynard is affiliated as an Allied Health Physician with Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio.

As of January 2006, Dr. Maynard was appointed by the Governor to The State Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He was also a physician member of the Quality Intervention Program. He was then elected by the members of the State Board to serve as Vice-President until December, 2010.
